USA STADARD TEMPERED LAMINATED RALING GLASS

 

We just complete a new test on tempered laminated railing glass, Very glad to say that: our tempered laminated railing glass can meets American International Building Code (IBC) mandated loading requirements. Clients are satisfy with our quality very much.

 

Description of test TEMPERED LAMINATED RALING GLASS :

Size of railings glass panel: 0.53"thick x 39.37" tall x 60" wide.(Tempered laminated glass :6mm clear tempered +1.52 clear PVB+6mm clear tempered )The glass panel is supported by stainless steel "spigots"(brackets), each spot located 12" inside the panel end (36" apart),the spigots raise the top of panel to 42.2",as code-mandated for guardrails.

 

Description of test methods for TEMPERED LAMINATED RALING GLASS

 

TEST 1: Test of vertical load capacity of tempered laminated railing glass.

 

The load was placed vertically on the center of the railings glass panel to test the panel vertical load carrycapacity.Gradually increase the load until the panel breaks.

TEST 2: Test of horizontal load capacity of tempered laminated railing glass,

 

The railings glass panel was laid on its side with a enough gap between the panel and the ground,it was supported by a 4 wide board running parallel to the panel top edge and located 28" from the top of panel,This created a 28" cantilever,with a second board at the panel bottom,creating a 14" back-span that was supported by 1 ton of water tanks and lots of sandbags standing on the board. Gradually increase the load on the top of the panel until the panel breaks,to obtain the maximum horizontal load capacity of the panel.

 

Field observation:

 

TEST 1: Use forklift to gradually increase the load on the tempered laminated railing glass.Load process: 400 #,800 #,1200 #,1420 #,1640 #,1860 #,2080 #,2300 #,2520 #. The panel load exceeds the maximum test expected weight and there was no breakage of the panel.In order to ensure the stability of the panel load, the load holding time is more than 12 hours.The state of the panel remained unchanged without any breakage.

 

TEST 2: The initial height of the tempered laminated railing glass, glass panel from the ground is 440mm.(The load is 0 #) When the panel load 400 #, it is 395 mm above the ground. When the load increased to 600 #, it is 380 mm above the ground.When the panel load increases to 710 #, the height from the ground is 360 mm.When the load increased to 820 #,Panel breakage at least 1 minutes later.The broken particle size of the panel is very small and there is no glass slag falling off.

 

Conclusion:

 

1.Tempered laminated railing glass, vertical load capacity ≥ 2520 #,The panel load exceeds the maximum test expected weight,This confirms that the panel meets or even exceed vertical loading requirements of the guardrail.

 

2.Tempered laminated railing glass horizontal load capacity ≥ 820 #.The broken panel conforms to the characteristics of tempered laminated glass,Small particle size, no drop off.These confirm that the panel meets or even exceed vertical loading requirements of the guardrail.

 

3.The two tests confirm that the Tempered laminated railing glass, as tested,meets the requirements for a guardrail systems in commercial and residential properties.
